Doula

A birthing companion trained to provide resources and guidance for an expecting couple in preparation for birth as well as physical and emotional support during the labor/birth process and immediately after the birth.

My job as a doula is to support you in your personal birth journey. That will look different for each individual client. My support always includes the birthing mother’s husband (partner), as I consider his role vital. If it is helpful for the mother my support may also extend to other family members. I will provide resources to help you make decisions that give you peace and then support you in those decisions. I will not perform any clinical tasks, give medical advice, or diagnose any condition. I will also not make decisions on your behalf.

Why REFUGE?

Refuge: a condition of being safe.

When we feel safe we are able to relax. A relaxed body is essential for birthing well. My desire is that my clients feel safe and supported in my presence. While I am not able to promise a certain birth scenario, I can provide a space of REFUGE.

When the waves of contractions or uncertainty come crashing, I will remain a constant source of safety.
